Enkhuizen, 20 March 2020

Dear jazz-lovers, musicians, sponsors, entrepreneurs, media partners, suppliers, local city-counsel, donors, and especially the over 100 volunteers who make Jazz Festival Enkhuizen possible every year,

Because of recent developments around the COVID-19 virus, Jazz Festival Enkhuizen‘s board has decided to cancel the jazz festival which would have taken place from the 4th to the 7th of June 2020.

We consider it our responsibility to take into consideration the health of the many volunteers who regularly meet in this period to prepare the festival. Because of the uncertainty over the length of the situation we cannot estimate what this will mean for our (international) visitors and musicians when June comes around.

We also have to think about our own continuity because the measures taken by the government will have its economic consequences. Multiple scenarios, like waiting how the situation would develop, as well as moving the festival to a later point in the year have been considered by the board. All things considered, skipping the festival for a year is the best option. In the following week we will contact personally, by telephone or by email, any party with a direct interest or anyone directly involved.

Should this message lead to any questions we will share as much information as possible through our special page on our website. You can also ask any questions at [email protected].

We would like to thank everyone involved for their trust, help, and the amount of energy they have already put into this edition of our festival. This decision gives everyone a chance to focus on what is really important over the coming period: your health and the health of those around you. After this we will again put 200% effort into making next year’s festival a fantastic success. You can put the dates on your calendar: the 3rd to the 6th of June 2021.

On behalf of the Jazz Festival Enkhuizen board,

Arjen Visser
